It’s important to communicate with families and caregivers on a regular basis about the social-emotional skills and concepts being taught in Second Step® Elementary. Clear and timely communication can strengthen a family’s connection with the classroom and helps them support their child’s growth and development at home.
The following resources are available to help you keep families and caregivers informed and engaged throughout the year.
- Home Links: Send this one-page unit overview home at the start of each unit to introduce the concepts and skills being taught. Home Links offer ideas that families and caregivers can use to reinforce their child’s learning and support their practice beyond the classroom.
- Weekly Communications: Include as part of your weekly message to families and caregivers to keep them up-to-date on the social-emotional learning focus for the week. Weekly communications are tied to each lesson and offer a prompt to spark conversation or an activity to support practice at home.
